UPDATE 5-22-25: Our 2025 Goose Nest & Egg Destruction season is rapidly approaching. The Horsehead Lake Association has submitted permit applications for Horsehead, Little John Brown, and Big John Brown Lakes and the permits have been issued. The permitted collection period will be March 24 – May 8. If you are interested in participating and haven’t seen the training video previously, please see it at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0x8yK3q8fU. Residents around the lake collected over 40 Canada goose eggs in the past two years, noticeably reducing the goose population and the associated nuisance they create. Our goal is not to eradicate them, simply to have a population that doesn’t create the level of nuisance that was experienced prior to our ability to participate being granted. Please report your successes and near misses to: goose@horseheadlake.org. Include general location, date, number of eggs collected for destruction, and the number of nests destroyed. Our future and continued participation depend on reporting the results of activities under the permits. If there are questions or concerns, please use the email above, DM, or comment on this posting.
